Dear Friends,
The new year always makes me pause and think about how far we’ve come at Janey’s. It’s hard to believe it’s been 32 years! My retail baby has grown and matured alongside my babies Amanda and Michelle.
Janey’s has been a huge part of our family, and a part of the lives of so many Amarillo women since 1985. We’ve come a long way! Way back in the 80s when we were all crimping our hair and wearing power shoulder pads, I hoped that our little shop would grow to be the shopping destination for Amarillo’s most fashionable women. There wasn’t much to choose from in town in those days. I knew we could bring in the great brands and unique styles everyone was looking for.
The incredible side effect of offering the best selection, though, wasn’t so apparent early on. Over the years, with all of the daily interactions and thoughtful encounters, Janey’s has become a clubhouse of female friendship. We support each other, we offer pick-me-ups, we keep an eye out for sweet baubles and booties that we know will make each other’s day. These are the relationships that make Janey’s what it is today. This is why so many friends prefer to pop into Janey’s rather than shop in nameless, faceless big box stores.
I read a great article in Reader’s Digest . It made me smile because I see this happening every time I open the store. This quote really stuck with me –
“You might think that so-called retail therapy is materialistic or hedonistic, but a growing body of research shows that shopping can be a positive, healthy activity. Shopping “releases mood-lifting endorphins, boosts your immune system, keeps your brain nimble, and even fulfills basic social needs,” according to Women’s Health magazine.
We’re looking forward to celebrating many more years of health and friendship. We work every day to make your experience at Janey’s joyful and effortless. Take a few minutes to check out our updated website and our Instagram feed…two things I definitely wouldn’t have been saying in 1985!
